Description
GHK-Cu
GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1) is a naturally occurring copper-binding tripeptide made up of three amino acids: glycine, histidine, and lysine. When bound to copper(II), the resulting complex is known as GHK-Cu and is easily recognized by its characteristic blue colour. The peptide has been identified naturally in human plasma and has become a widely studied compound in skin science, cellular signalling, copper biology, and tissue-related research.
One of the most established areas of GHK-Cu research involves the extracellular matrix, the network of proteins and other molecules that provides structure and support to surrounding cells. Laboratory studies using fibroblast cultures have investigated GHK-Cu in relation to collagen, glycosaminoglycans, and other components involved in extracellular-matrix activity.
Because collagen plays an important structural role in skin and connective tissue, GHK-Cu has attracted considerable interest in skin and dermal research. Preclinical studies have explored the peptide in models involving skin structure, tissue response, collagen-related pathways, and processes associated with tissue remodelling and repair.
Another important area of GHK-Cu research involves cell signalling and gene expression. Researchers have examined changes in gene-expression patterns in cultured cells exposed to the peptide, including pathways associated with tissue maintenance, cellular stress responses, inflammation, and extracellular-matrix regulation. These findings have contributed to broader research into how small naturally occurring peptides may influence cellular behaviour.
The copper component is also scientifically significant. Copper participates in numerous biological processes, and GHK-Cu has been investigated as both a copper-binding and copper-delivery molecule. Research has examined its copper-binding characteristics, antioxidant-related activity, redox behaviour, and interactions with cellular systems.
Additional preclinical research has explored GHK-Cu in areas involving oxidative stress, inflammatory signalling, neurological models, tissue response, and age-related changes in cellular processes. Naturally occurring GHK levels have also been reported to change with age, contributing to continued research interest in the peptide and its biological role.
Much of the research surrounding GHK-Cu comes from laboratory, cell-culture, and animal models. These findings should not be interpreted as establishing therapeutic benefits, safety, or effectiveness in humans.
Quantum Labs Canada supplies GHK-Cu as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder intended exclusively for controlled laboratory and research applications. The naturally blue appearance of the powder is associated with its copper complex and is expected.
Each batch is independently tested for purity and consistency.
